After having a long, successful law practice in Starke County, LeRoy Gudeman has decided to retire.

Gudeman worked by himself out of the same building across the street from the Starke County Courthouse in downtown Knox since moving to the area in 1957. He has been a part of the community in many activities and has been on the Kankakee Valley Broadcasting board of directors that oversees operations at WKVI for many years.

He started his law practice accepting any case that would come through the door.

“When I first started I would take anything that would walk in the office,” said Gudeman. “My work was such that it developed into probate and real estate-type of business. It’s wasn’t that much court work as it is office-type work.

Gudeman doesn’t have a lot on his plate in his retirement.

“I have no real plans other than just playing golf. That’s a game that I do enjoy and that’s what my plans are.”

A retirement open house was recently held in Gudeman’s honor of 57 years of service to the community. LeRoy and his wife of 24 years, Kay, reside in Knox. Kay is an account executive at K99.3 WKVI.
