Town Marshall Accused of Ghost Employment

An area police officer is on the other side of the law. Fulton Town Marshall Jason R. Coleman, 37, of Rochester is accused of submitting hours for compensation that were not actually worked. He collected in excess of $6,700 over the last five years, according to a news release from the Indiana State Police.

They were contacted by the Fulton town board president and town clerk earlier this year to investigate the ghost employment allegations. Coleman was the Rochester Police Chief at the time of the investigation, according to the Indiana State Police. A special prosecutor from Miami County filed one count of official misconduct as a C felony and six D felony theft charges against Coleman. He turned himself in last night at the Fulton County Jail and is now free on bond.
