A LaPorte County Jail Deputy is on the other side of the law. Heather Lari, 38, was arrested Wednesday afternoon for trafficking with an inmate.

She was also fired by Sheriff Michael Mollenhauer, according to a department news release. Jail officials reportedly learned that contraband may be located in a specific jail cell Wednesday morning. The item was found during a search of the cell block, and jail officials determined it was brought in by an employee. Lari is charged with one felony and two misdemeanor counts of trafficking with an inmate. She’s worked at the LaPorte County Jail since April 1st of this year. Mollenhauer said in a statement trafficking by staff will not be tolerated.
