Starke County Commissioners Approve Change Order for 300 East Project

The Starke County Commissioners Monday approved a $70,000 change order to add a right turn lane to the rebuilt intersection of State Road 8 and County Road 300 East. Starke County Economic Development Foundation Executive Director Charlie Weaver said it was omitted from the original project specifications in order to keep costs in order. The intersection is being redone in order to allow large trucks greater access to the Knox Industrial Park. Weaver said the work came in enough under budget that there is money left to add the lane. He says the site work is already done and adds he does not expect any additional costs aside from those for materials. The commissioners approved the change order on the condition that any additional inspections deemed necessary would be done by the county’s inspector.
