Chip Seal Project to Close U.S. 421 in Starke and Pulaski Counties

U.S. 421 between the west junctions of State Road 10 and State Road 14 in Starke and Pulaski Counties will be closed today through the end of the day on Friday for chip seal and fog seal operations

This project is weather dependent and could be delayed. Indiana Department of Transportation crews will escort traffic through the worksite, but drivers are asked to find another route of travel during this process.

Chip seal projects prevent potholes and extend the life of a roadway by protecting it from moisture, ultra-violet degradation, and any other damaging exposures.

Drivers should exercise caution during these projects. Loose stone will be present on the roadway during the initial cure of the asphalt and can damage windshields and paint on vehicles that may be following each other too closely. Leave plenty of space between you and the car in front of you when you near these areas.
