The Knox Community School Board will meet in special session tonight to discuss regular business and to hold a public hearing regarding the all funds budget.
If anyone has any comments on the published budget, the board will take them under consideration during the hearing. A budget adoption will occur in October.
The board will also consider an authorization for a project hearing and approve a teacher document of agreement.
A balanced calendar discussion is on the agenda. The board held a public hearing concerning a balanced calendar last year. In a previous report, Superintendent A.J. Gappa commented that the calendar is not intended to be a year-round school, but feature a two-week break in between three nine-week sessions for vacation or remediation time. He noted that research shows that that grades improve and discipline issues decline when schools operate on this calendar.
The board will meet at 6:30 p.m. ET in the administrative office in the Palmer Wing in the Knox Community Elementary School.
