Starke County Commissioners Set EMS Interview Date

The Starke County Commissioners plan to interview six applicants for the EMS director position on Tuesday, Sept. 23. All six either live in Starke County or work for Starke County EMS. Other applicants will be considered as part of a secondary list.

Last week the commissioners voted to expand the qualifications for the position to allow both EMT’s and paramedics to apply for the opening. The job will pay between $38,000 and $45,000 per year, depending on experience. The EMS director will also have use of a county vehicle. Since expanding the criteria two additional people have applied for the position.

Starke County has been without a permanent EMS Director since Paul Matthewson stepped down in July. Keith Emigh has served in an interim capacity since then.
