Candidates Have Time to Request Recounts in Close Races

  
 

Candidates who lost by narrow margins have until Tuesday, Nov. 18 at noon to file a request for a recount with the county clerk’s office. Unofficial vote totals in Starke County indicate three candidates lost by miniscule margins. In the County Council District 4 race, Democrat Pamela Stalbaum edged Republican Don White by two votes for the seat currently held by Marvin McLaughlin. Republican Railroad Township Trustee challenger Mandy Thompson got three more votes than incumbent Roger Chaffins, Sr. Oregon-Davis School Board President Christopher Lawrence nudged challenger Annette M. Ferch by a three-vote margin as well.
