The Town of Culver is on track to build a new water treatment plant. On Tuesday the council passed an ordinance to raise water and sewer rates. They also approved an agreement with accounting firm Umbaugh and Associates. Town attorney Jim Clevenger says this will keep the project moving forward.

Culver has received a $500,000 grant from the State Office of Community and Rural Affairs for the project. It carries an estimated cost of $1.4 million. Town officials will cover the remaining cost by obtaining a 20-year low-interest loan from the state. The project timeline calls for bids to be received by April 30th and work to start in the summer.
