The water heater installation at the Pulaski County Justice Center has been delayed, according to Maintenance Director Jeff Johnston.

“One of the delays was with a vendor where they ordered parts for their machinery. That kind of set us back a little bit. They now have the parts that they need. They have most of the water lines in place. This week they’re going to start up the one unit and take the old one off line. We’re going to run it for a while to make sure that we have confidence that it’s going to do the job. Then they’ll remove the old one altogether and start installing the second one,” said Johnston.

Contracts for the water softener installation and the HVAC units were signed and those projects will get underway.

The generator installation at the health department has also hit a snag.

“We ran into a huge problem in a way of a foot-and-a-half-thick concrete wall. We have to actually run this stuff through it. We can do it the cheap route and run wires through the floor to run power to the computers and to the refrigerator, but the right way to do it is to go through the concrete wall. We’ll have to spend $1,500 more. When the generator goes on it’s going to power the entire health department.”

The computer servers will also be connected to run on generator power. The rest of the building will not be included.
