A LaPorte man now faces an attempted rape charge in connection with a Monday morning incident. Police there were called to a home in the 600 block of Jefferson Avenue at 1:45 a.m. Witnesses told officers they heard a disturbance coming from a bedroom.
When they went in to investigate they reportedly found Noah B. Tamlin, 25, of LaPorte, trying to have sex with a female guest. The 25-year-old woman told officers she awoke from a deep sleep brought on by prescription medication and found Tamlin on top of her. Both were naked from the waist down, according to police. Officers say the woman was able to push Tamlin away until they arrived. He was arrested on a charge of sexual battery as a level 6 felony. That charge was upgrade to attempted rape as a level 3 felony after additional interviews with the victim, witnesses and Tamlin.
