Starke County Election Board Looking Toward 2015 Municipal Election

 
 

The Starke County Election Board looked ahead to the 2015 Municipal Election when they met for the last time this year.

Since the population is below 3,500 residents, North Judson voters will participate in a town convention and will elect a clerk-treasurer and town board members in Ward 1, Ward 2 and Ward 3. Hamlet residents will also participate in a town convention and will elect a clerk-treasurer and town board members. Hamlet has only one Ward.

The City of Knox will have a Municipal Election where a clerk-treasurer, mayor and city council members will be chosen in four precincts.

Candidates may file a declaration of candidacy for the Primary Election beginning Wednesday, Jan. 7. The last day to file for the primary is Friday, Feb. 6. Voter registration will end Monday, April 6 while absentee voting will begin Tuesday, April 7. The Primary Election will be on Tuesday, May 5.

The board also voted to pay a food vendor $35 for providing an extra meal for a person who was not working at the polls. The worker was transferred to another polling location and the vendor filed a notice at the clerk’s office.
