Grant Leads to Lower Pet Services Cost

Pulaski Animal CenterThe Pulaski Animal Center will be reducing the cost of spaying and neutering your pets.

Millions of animals are entered into shelters around the country each year due to overpopulation and a general inability to care for the animals. This can lead to overcrowding in facilities and eventually euthanizing the animals that can’t find homes.

A grant given by the Pulaski County Community Foundation will be used to issue certificates area residents can use to lower the costs of the procedure. Those certificates will start being issued this month and continue through October.

The Pulaski Animal Center is calling the campaign “Operation Fix.”

According to a press release, spaying and neutering your pets can reduce their cancer risk and objectionable behavior. Enough procedures can lower the dollar amount spent on caring for animals and reduce the homeless animal population.

Certificates will be issued on a first-come, first-serve basis. Those who do not use the certificates to receive reduced cost services in the 30 day time frame will see the documents rolled back into the pile for others to use.
