WKVI has teamed up with the Starke County Sheriff’s Department in a new initiative to apprehend fugitives. The Starke County’s Most Wanted List is now online and can be accessed by clicking the link on WKVI.com. Sheriff Bill Dulin says the list is a collaborative effort with the prosecutor’s office to dwindle down their warrant list and help with child support collections. It will feature between 10 and 12 fugitives each week of the between 800 and 1,000 with outstanding warrants.
Dulin adds the range of offenses varies and includes several failure to appear for traffic violations in other jurisdictions. He hopes posting it online will help to clear it out. He says if someone sees themselves on the list they should just come to the sheriff’s department and take care of it. Many can be resolved by going through the booking process and posting bond. In instances where bond hasn’t been set, the suspect will have to go before the judge and have one set before they can be released. Dulin adds anyone who knows the whereabouts of a fugitive should contact the sheriff’s department or local police and let them handle the arrest. Do not try to apprehend a fugitive yourself.
