NJ-SP School Board Approves Drivers Ed Program

North Judson-San Pierre Admin buildingThe North Judson-San Pierre School Board has decided to maintain a program for their summer programming.

During this week’s school board meeting, board members considered offering a Driver’s Education program. The offering runs each summer for students who are interested in training prior to turning a legal age to drive.

Superintendent Lynn Johnson says it’s self funded.

“It’s an important program, we used to be able to fund it through the corporation, we can no longer do that,” says Johnson. “So for several years it’s been self funded.”

Students can participate at a cost of $330. There is a classroom and driving section of the program.

The school corporation also brings in insurance agents and community members who can discuss traffic safety with students.

Johnson says they have allotments for students interested.

“We hope to fill with our corporation and is first served,” says Johnson. “But then we have had other corporations ask, or students from other corporations ask, if they can participate and if we have openings, we certainly welcome them.”

The school corporation budgets for 30 students. Students from other school corporations are welcome if there are openings.

The School Board approved the measure.
