The Starke County Park Board is continuing its efforts to develop a list of county properties that have been, or can be, designated as parks to be placed under the authority of the board. The Bass Lake Beach has already been designated as such a property by the county commissioners. The five-member park board has planned an inspection visit to the beach property sometime next month.
At their Tuesday meeting the board met with Chris Lawrence to discuss the possibility of developing a wooded area for cross country skiing and the new sport of snow biking. Lawrence said he could donate his time and effort to the preparation and grooming of such a trail next winter.
A five-year development plan for county park property was briefly discussed as was a Facebook page for Starke County Parks. No action was taken.
The next meeting of the board is scheduled for May 19th in the commissioners room in the Courthouse Annex.
