LaPorte Police Complete Operation Pull Over Enforcement

Officers from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department conducted over 129 hours of additional enforcement during an Operation Pull Over event in March.

The enforcement focused on occupant restraint law compliance.

Seat belt tickets numbered 80 while 56 citations and 173 warnings were issued. The officers conducted 229 stops for speed related offenses. Nine suspended drivers were arrested. One motorist received a citation for violating the open container law, and one driver was arrested for driving under the influence. A total of 390 violator contacts were recorded.

The effort of the sheriff’s department continues to be the reduction of the number of motor vehicle crashes and injuries.

Operation Pull Over is a federally funded enforcement initiative administered by the Traffic Safety Division of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.
