The Oregon-Davis School Board will continue implementing development tools in the classroom.
Monday night’s school board meeting saw the Board of Education take action to approve strategies from Five Star Education Solutions. The company offers instruction and targeted development for students, but also offers professional development and technology assistance to teachers.
The school corporation already uses different online instruction methods, but Oregon-Davis Superintendent Greg Briles says measuring how that learning is taking place is key.
“From a standpoint of a Superintendent, we have to evaluate all that,” says Briles. “What Five Star does is: they have that evaluation system in place.”
Five Star Solutions also provides help to students who are not able to attend class. Students at Oregon-Davis are already using online instruction software in the classroom.
The software will be used in the 2015-2016 school year. The Oregon-Davis School Board approved using the company’s management offerings.
The School Board also approved adding two days onto the end of the school-year calendar. Oregon-Davis petitioned the state to conduct e-learning days and gave the school corporation the option to add time onto the end of the school day, but Briles says it was easier to add on the days.
He says Five Star Solutions can also help with future e-learning days.
“With Five Star’s recommendations and professional development, they will actually assist our teachers in being prepared for that snow day, or fog day,” says Briles. Whatever it may be.”
The School Corporation will be in class June 1st and 2nd.
