A LaPorte man reportedly saw an alligator in a body of water there. He told police he was fishing of a pier at Kiwanis/Teledyne Park when he saw a head with two eyes sticking up above the water. He watched the creature as it swan into the pond area next to the pier and onto the shorelne. The man told police he approached it, and the animal went back into the water and swam away. He told officers he was certain what he saw was an alligator, based on having lived in Florida for nine years. He estimated the animal was three to four feet long. LaPorte Police sent a copy of their report to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
