Kankakaee River Flood Warning Extended

 
 

The National Weather Service has extended until Saturday the flood warning for the Kanakakee River at U.S. 30. At 10 last night the stage was 10.7 feet and rising. Flood stage is 10 feet.

Minor flooding is occurring, and minor flooding is forecast. The river is expected to crest near 10.9 feet around 1 p.m. today and fall below flood stage around 1 Friday afternoon. Flooding of secondary roads around the river begins when it hits 11 feet. This compares to the 11.3 foot crest of Dec. 16, 2011, according to the National Weather Service.
