School Corporation Refutes Rumors High School Locked Down, Thursday

 
 

Despite rumors on social media, the Knox School Corporation says there was not a lockdown of the High School on Thursday.

According to information provided by Superintendent A.J. Gappa, the Starke County Sheriff’s Department requested a slight delay in school bus pick-up schedules.

The Knox School Corporation says that before they could implement measures to slightly alter the schedule, a second call was received at the school by the Sheriff’s Department to ensure staff and students the area was indeed safe. A school lockdown was avoided after the second call.

WKVI requested comment from the Starke County Sheriff’s Department which said additional information will be released later in the day.

Dispatchers were able to disclose that officers perceived a “threat” in the area, but were unable to confirm the nature of the incident.
