Starke County Farmers Among 17 to be Featured During State Fair

Several farmers from around the state of Indiana will be featured during this summer’s Indiana State Fair.

Each day of the fair – which runs from August 7th through the 23rd – will allow tourists to learn about a different farm family. Those farmers will be featured in the daily highlight sheets.

This year is being described as the “Year of the Farmer” for the Indiana State Fair. That theme was announced in October of 2014.

Starke County is represented among those farms. Deb and Larry Wappel were chosen for their mint production and other farming activities. The 17-day fair will showcase the Wappel’s on August 21st on the events sheet. They will also be asked to attend several events and exhibits at the fair.

Featured farmers were selected by their peers in the industry.

The Wappel’s did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
