Field Set for Knox Municipal Election

The winners in May’s Knox Municipal Primary Election do not have challengers in November’s General Election contest. Officials with the Starke County Clerk’s Office did not receive any candidate filings prior to Monday’s noon deadline.

That leaves one contested race between Democrat Tim Manns and Republican Tony Radkiewicz Sr. for the open District 4 seat. Manns beat incumbent Greg Matt in the primary.

Barring a successful write-in candidacy, the following candidates will take office in January:

Dennis Estok, Mayor

Jeff Houston, Clerk-Treasurer

Bertha Blue, City Council At-Large

Don Kring, City Council District 1

Ron Parker, City Council District 2

Jeff Berg, City Council District 3

Charles Hasnerl, City Court Judge

Candidates in North Judson and Hamlet have until Aug. 3 to file the necessary paperwork with the Starke County Clerk’s office in order to get their names on the November ballot. Should more than one candidate from the same party file for a seat, a town convention will be scheduled in August.
