Final Salary Ordinance Approval on Knox Council Agenda

City_of_Knox_LogoThe Knox City Council has a meeting scheduled for tonight at 7 pm in City Hall. The Council will have their final reading of the 2016 Salary Ordinance. Treasurer Jeff Houston said this is in preparation for an upcoming budget hearing, “We have a budget meeting with the field representative from the Department of Local Government Finance on the 27th of July.” he said.

The council will also discuss a few matters dealing with public property. Property owners Patricia and Micheal Owens wish to sign a piece of property in the Parkview Heights area over to The City. The council will vote over whether or not to accept that piece of property. Planning commission member and property owner Steve Dodge is presenting a petition to establish a street on an existing city right-of-way because currently an unofficial alleyway is being used on his property next to 801 South Portland St.

The Council will address the necessity of waver of non-compliance being filed for the selected furniture tax abatement, due to the fact that the proper paperwork wasn’t in by the May deadline. Amendments to the Holiday schedule will also be a topic of discussion.
