Knox City Council Approves Pay Raise

The Knox City Council has approved a 2-percent salary increase for employees in 2016. Council members and members of the Planning Commission, and the Zoning and Park Boards, dog catcher and crossing guard are not included in the increase.

The Council made a correction in the 2016 Holiday Schedule, approved earlier, to bring Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays in compliance with current policy.

Clerk Jeff Houston reported that the city’s mileage reimbursement has been reduced from 44-cents to 40-cents as of July 1st.

The tax abatement consideration for Selected Furniture has been re-scheduled for August 11th. City Attorney David Matsey reported that a waiver in a tax abatement requires a public hearing.
