An investigator from the state fire marshal’s office has been called in to determine the cause and origin of a fire that destroyed a vacant home in downtown Knox last night.

Knox-Center Township Fire Chief Kenny Pfost says his department responded to the home in the 300 block of East John Street just before 9 p.m. and found flames coming from both levels of the two-story home. No injuries were reported. Pfost says the home appeared to have either been recently vacated or was in the process of being vacated. The Knox Police Department and Starke County EMS assisted with the response.
