MPI Calls Unfair Labor Practices Allegations Untrue, Strives for Fair Contract

MPIMPI says it is continuing work to finalize a contract agreement with representatives of the United Steelworkers.

Employees at the company’s facility in Knox, otherwise known as Indiana Fineblanking, picketed before and after their shifts on October 26th. USW Sub-District 4 Director Mike O’Brien accused MPI of unfair labor practices during the demonstrations, but did not specify what had changed about their working conditions.

In a response, officials with MPI called O’Brien’s unfair labor practices allegations “untrue.” The company says it continues operates under the policies outlined in the handbook that is distributed to each of its employees.

Given this is a first contract, MPI has said in previous statements there is plenty to cover in the meetings. Contract negotiations took place last week between the company and the United Steelworkers. It’s a continuation of talks that have been ongoing for more than one year.

MPI says the meetings involved the topics necessary to come closer to an agreement. Both parties have refrained from commenting on exactly when an agreement might take place.

According to the statement released Tuesday evening, MPI says it wants to reach language that is fair and equitable for all of the parties involved.

The next contract talks will take place on November 8th.
