A LaPorte man suspected of being involved in a Sunday hit-and-run crash faces several charges in Starke County. Officers from the Walkerton Police Department notified Starke County Dispatch a possibly intoxicated hit-and-run driver had struck a utility pole and kept going.

A short time later they got a report of the suspect’s car driving eastbound in the westbound lane. A Starke County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped the car driven by 48-year-old David Armstrong after a brief pursuit, according to the incident report. He registered .27 on a preliminary blood draw. That’s more than three times the presumed level of intoxication.

Armstrong was lodged in the Starke County Jail on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated prior, reckless driving, obstruction of traffic with use of a vehicle and resisting law enforcement.
