Carpentry Business Suffers Major Losses Following Wednesday Fire

A fire near Union Mills on Wednesday has destroyed the operating location of a carpentry business.

According to Noble Township Volunteer Fire Department Chief John Homan, the fire started around 6:45 a.m. in the 900 block of East 2nd Street in Union Mills. A trailer – which houses the tools and supplies of an area carpenter began smoking.

Homan says it’s believed that a heater inside the trailer led to the flames. The owner of the vehicle was alerted by a neighbor, who said the trailer was smoking.

Sufficient time was available for the owner to move the trailer away from adjacent structures and detach a truck prior to the blaze fully engulfing the site.

It took Noble Township Firefighters about an hour-and-a-half to extinguish the flames.

The trailer is considered a total loss in the incident. No injuries were reported.
