LaPorte County Resident Announces Run for House District 20 Seat

PresselA life-long LaPorte County resident has announced that he is running for the Indiana House of Representatives.

Republican Jim Pressel announced his intentions this week to seek the 20th District House seat. The position attracted interest from Republican candidates after State Representative Tom Dermody announced he would be retiring from the General Assembly to spend more time with his family.

Pressel owns a homebuilding company he started in 1992. He says he intends to use that business management experience to help him govern, if elected.

According to a press release from his campaign, Pressel will be serving as the President of the Indiana Builders Association in 2016. He also serves on the LaPorte County Planning Commission.

As part of his preliminary platform, the candidate says he favors “smaller government,” but says he will put a focus during any future legislative tenure on creating higher paying jobs and ensuring the Hoosier state has “great local schools.”
