Knox Mayor Names New Police Chief, City Attorney

City_of_Knox_LogoThe City of Knox has a new police chief. Mayor Dennis Estok last night appointed Harold Smith to that position. He replaces Clint Norem, who served under Mayor Rick Chambers.

Estok also named Leslie Baker as city attorney. She takes over that responsibility from David Matsey. Street Superintendent Jeff Borg, Water Superintendent Todd Gardner and Wastewater Superintendent Kelly Clemons were all reappointed, as was Knox-Center Township Fire Chief Kenny Pfost. Board of Works Members Ed Blue and Jim Collins were also reappointed.

The city’s new redevelopment commission has five members. Marsha Boggs, Marsha Hayes and Mike Estok were appointed by the mayor. Councilmen Jeff Berg and Tim Manns also agreed to serve.

Estok still has one appointment to the board of zoning appeals and two to the park board he intends to make later. He told the council he’s got a Democrat in mind for the park board seat but still needs a Republican to serve in order to maintain political balance.
