Culver School Board Approves 2016-2017 Calendar

CulverHSThe Culver School Board officially approved the 2016-2017 School Calendar Monday, after delaying their decision due to a conflict with the state’s testing schedule. At the board’s meeting earlier this month, Interim Superintendent Chuck Kitchell told members that the PSAT was scheduled to be given during the time Culver and several other corporations were planning to have fall break.

Kitchell had hoped to confirm that the corporation would be allowed to reschedule the test, but this week, he told the school board it was time for the calendar’s approval, even without that information. “Nothing has changed on it, and we have not heard from the Department of Education on the PSAT testing,” he said. “But other local superintendents have taken it to their board with the same fall break that we have, and so I think it’s time that we go ahead and get this out for the public to see what our next year’s calendar is going to look like.”

Kitchell has said that if the test can’t be rescheduled, fall break will most likely have to be moved by a week. He’s also said there won’t be any major changes from this year’s calendar, with the corporation staying with the balanced calendar concept. The biggest difference will be an adjustment to the scheduling of parent-teacher conferences.

The first day of classes will be August 2, with school ending on May 31. Graduation will be on June 2.

The Culver School Board approved the 2016-2017 School Calendar, unanimously.
