Election Board Reviews Items Heading into Primary Season

Election season is growing closer, meaning the Starke County Election Board has a few decisions to make.

According to Starke County Clerk Vicki Cooley, board members will be considering several items that will help prepare for both the May primary and the November General Election.

Resolutions will be proposed that looks to clarify where polling locations will exist in Starke County. Cooley says the measure is required by the state to determine if combined polling locations are to continue in future years.

More importantly, however, is that the Election Board will consider establishing early voting hours in Starke County. The Starke County Commissioners have already approved allowing the volunteers and other election workers to work additional hours. Cooley says because this is a presidential year, they expect a high volume of voting traffic.

The Election Board also plans to consider the placement of names on the primary ballots when they meet this morning.

The meeting will be held in the Commissioners Offices on the first floor of the courthouse at 9:00 a.m.
