Extensive Investigation Leads to Heroin Bust in LaPorte County

 
 

Authorities in LaPorte are touting recent efforts by investigators following the seizure of a sizeable amount of heroin.

The arrests occurred on Monday when the LaPorte County Metro Narcotics Unit and the LaPorte City Police Department performed a vehicle stop in the area of County Road 450 North just west of U.S. 35. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 36-year-old Tondalayia Thomas of Chicago, Illinois.

During the stop, a K9 unit was employed to perform a sniff test. A positive indication was given, allowing officers to search the vehicle. According to information provided by the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department, about 27 grams of heroin was located inside the vehicle.

According to investigators, Thomas was traveling from Illinois to Indiana to distribute narcotics. She is facing felony charges of Possession of a Schedule One, Two, and Three Narcotic with Intent to Distribute.
