Several organizations serving the local area have been awarded grants courtesy of Indiana’s First Lady.

This week, Karen Pence hosted a reception for charitable groups from around the state to recognize them for their work. The effort was part of the First Lady’s Charitable Foundation. This year, $32-thousand was awarded to 36 charitable organizations.

Those causes have efforts that reach into the local area. Among the award recipients are the Children’s Hope House – which serves areas including Marshall, Pulaski, and Starke County. The North Central Indiana Rural Crisis Center – which serves Pulaski County and the Indiana Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs were also chosen.

According to information provided by the First Lady’s offices, grants ranged between $500 and $1000 each.

This was the sixth year such a reception was hosted by the First Lady’s Charitable Organization.
