Shots Fired Following Argument in LaPorte

 
 

An investigation is ongoing after an argument over a woman allegedly led to shots being fired in LaPorte on Monday.

Officers responded to the 700 block of Jackson Street around 2:00 p.m. Once there, a witness said that his roommate and the suspect had been arguing for some time. The suspect allegedly departed the location, but returned later in the afternoon.

According to reports from the LaPorte City Police Department, a handgun was drawn during the exchange of words with a single shot fired in the vicinity of the witness and their roommate.

No injuries were reported in the incident. A damaged window was spotted with a bullet fragment located by officers in the window sill. The resident of the property said they heard what sounded like a gunshot, but waited several minutes for the scene to clear before noticing the broken window.

The case is under investigation.
