Culver Schools Plans Better Cooperation with Town

Culver Community School CorporationThe Culver School Board Monday learned about some of the ways the school corporation is working to better cooperate with the town.

Interim Superintendent Chuck Kitchell says he’s been meeting with members of the town council to work on an agreement that would benefit both entities. “We’re looking at a way to just formalize ways that we can each support each other,” he says. “Right now, it’s kind of, ‘What can the town do to help us in any way possible?’ and we’re talking about things like maybe helping us with some spreading of salt on some of those bad mornings or some debris removal if we have a storm go through and we get some trees down or branches down. What can the town do to help us and then moving forward, how do we make our property available to help with some of the things that the town likes to do?” Kitchell says this could include making the schools’ grounds available for some of the festivals held in the town.

The Culver Town Council has been having discussions with several community organizations about combining resources to find solutions to some of the issues facing the town. Increasing cooperation is seen as a way not only to save on costs, but also to potentially help promote the community to both new and existing businesses.
