Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra to Hold Auditions for Young Musicians

Young musicians have the chance to share the stage with the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra. Auditions will soon be held for the orchestra’s 2016 Young People’s Competition.

It’s open to students currently in kindergarten through 11th grade who live or take music lessons in six Northwest Indiana counties, including Starke and LaPorte. Winners will have the chance to play a piece two minutes in length or less at one of the orchestra’s upcoming concerts.

The competition is open to musicians playing any instrument, as well as vocalists. Groups of up to four musicians will also be accepted. Participants need to memorize their musical selection and must provide their own accompanist, if necessary.

Auditions will be held Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14 at the Northwest Indiana Symphony Rehearsal Hall at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts in Munster.
