Truckers Collect Water for Flint Residents

Water donations collected last Saturday at Five Star in Knox will soon be headed to Flint, Mich. Volunteers from the Northwest Indiana Truck Club set up in the store parking lot to help our neighbors to the north. They collected 148 cases of water. The top donation came from Mitch Thompson, who gave nine cases.

Jeremy Joseph with the Northwest Indiana Truck Club says he met a lot of caring people who were grateful to be able to help. He says it shows there are good-hearted people in our town that will put others before themselves.

Drivers plan to make a convoy to Michigan Saturday to drop off water for residents. They’re leaving at 9:30 from Bass Pro Shop in Portage. Flint is under state and federal emergency declarations due to the high lead content in its drinking water.
