Starke County Public Library patrons are encouraged to take part in a card shower for a recent retiree. Mary Wharton quietly retired from the Henry F. Schricker branch in Knox on May 27th after 24 years of service. She would not allow her coworkers to throw any sort of party or reception in her honor.
They’re now asking everyone in the community to help surprise Mary with a “shower of cards” expressing thanks and well wishes for a long and happy retirement.
Cards or letters can be dropped off at the Knox library branch or mailed to Mary Wharton, c/o Schricker Library, 152 W. Culver Road, Knox, 46534. They will be collected through Saturday, June 18th. Library staff will personally deliver the cards to Mary so she can read, enjoy and treasure them.
