No Tornadoes Reported in Starke County During Wednesday Storms

weatherThe Starke County EMA Department says there were no tornadoes reported in Indiana or locally on Wednesday night.

EMA Director Jacob Lippner says the bulk of the storm shifted to the south of Starke County, but still produced plenty of thunder and lightning in addition to heavy rainfall.

Several downed trees and power lines were reported in Starke County as a result of the wind during the evening and overnight hours on Wednesday. Spotty power outages were also reported in Starke County. Lippner said in an e-mail that the power outages were addressed quickly.

Throughout the night, the EMA Department said it was utilizing the services of NIXLE, a program intended to use text messaging and e-mail services to distribute important information to local residents.

Those interested may sign-up for the services at www.nixle.com. The Starke County EMA Department is promoting the program’s usage as part of broader emergency management support services.
