The West Central School Board voted last week to cancel the contracts of three teachers at the end of the current school year. The reductions in force are due to declining enrollment throughout the corporation.
Leanna Nielsen, Lisa Baker and Laura Stout are all on the callback list should an opening for which they are licensed occur. West Central Superintendent Don Street says their callback status will remain active for a year.
Each teacher received a written reduction in force notice on May 13 advising them of the right to conference with the superintendent within five days of notice of the principal’s preliminary decision. None of the three requested a conference.
