The North Judson Police Department had a busy month in June. Interim Town Marshal Frank Thomas reported last month’s police activity to the town council last week. “We had five OVWI arrests, three warrant arrests, three arrests for possession of heroin,” he said. “A burglary was committed and solved, and the suspect has been arrested. And 19 citations were written.”

Additionally, North Judson may be the next community to update its golf cart ordinance. Town Attorney Rachel Arndt says she’s added a few rules, to allow golf carts to be driven at night. Specifically, some lighting requirements were discussed. However, town officials decided against requiring flashing lights for nighttime operation. The updated ordinance is expected to be introduced for first reading at the next North Judson Town Council meeting.

In other business, council members voted to keep the permit fee for the town-wide yard sale at five dollars. This year’s yard sale will be held on Saturday, August 13.
