TCS Officials Cut Ribbon on New Facility

TCS Ribbon CuttingA Knox-based business has plenty of room to grow. Traffic Control Specialists, Inc. officials cut the ribbon for their new, state-of-the-art headquarters in the Knox Industrial Park yesterday. The company specializes in work zone safety and is the leading provider of signs and service throughout northern Indiana. President Tracy Triska says they were afraid they would have to look beyond Starke County for a new home.

“We were literally bursting at the seams,” Triska said of their site on Klockner Drive between White Flyer and the railroad tracks. “We were kind of taking over everybody’s area over there. We do appreciate everyone being so kind about it. We are so happy to be able to stay here and to have this beautiful facility.”

The new building is located in the Knox Industrial Park across from Toll Integrated Systems and west of Knox Fertilizer.

Starke County Economic Development Foundation Executive Director Charlie Weaver says helping TCS to expand was a team effort between the City of Knox, Starke County and the Starke County Economic Development Foundation. He says they made it happen because TCS is a local company with good, local jobs.

The Knox City Council approved zoning changes and incentives to enable the expansion, including the establishment of an economic revitalization area, a 10-year tax abatement for the new building and a seven-year abatement for equipment. The city and Starke County Economic Development Foundation also agreed to share the cost of water and sewer improvements to serve the site. TCS broke ground on the new facility last November.
