The Culver Town Council will be receiving a few updates about its participation in Marshall County’s online permitting system.

Culver is lagging behind other communities when it comes to its use of the county’s permitting process for new construction. The lake community believes that the use of its own Building Commissioner helps the overall appearance of the community while protecting its lakeshore.

Earlier this year, Culver was unable to join Marshall County’s online permit system due to its work developing a fee schedule for its permits. The conversation caused heated exchanges with local contractors who initially felt the permit fees were too high. Culver eventually reworked the fee schedule to more acceptable levels.

During Tuesday night’s meeting, Culver will also receive an update on its participation in Marshall County dispatch. Culver recently approved contracts to continue receiving dispatch services for individuals in need of 911 services. Marshall County is applying some of the cost of providing the service to its local communities based on use.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at Culver Town Hall.
