Internship Opportunities Expanding for Fall Semester in Indiana

The Indiana Commission for Higher Education is promoting more opportunities through the EARN Indiana program.

The Employment Aid Readiness Network is the state’s work-study program and provides monies for low-income college students with paid internships. This fall, the program is expanding to include adults returning to college and increasing the income eligibility threshold.

Typically students have to demonstration a financial need for state assistance through the program. In the past, the expected family contribution to education requirements has had to be below $7,500 annually. With the changes, that threshold will now move to $24,808 or less.

The expansion is part of Indiana’s “You Can. Go Back.” initiative to train Hoosier adults in the workforce with college education and experience. The Executive Director of Indiana INTERNnet – which oversees the program says hundreds of students have already taken advantage of the program with the benefits going to Indiana businesses.

A few other changes have been made to the program such as streamlined applications for employers offering long-term internship opportunities.
