Knox Pair Busted for Meth in Friday Search

 
 

Knox Police and the Starke County Sheriff’s Department made a pair of arrests on Friday following the discovery of a meth lab.

A search warrant was executed around 4:00 p.m. in the 1000 block of East Culver Road by the Starke County Major Crimes Unit following a tip received about the address. Once officers were inside, they allegedly discovered two one-pot meth labs and chemicals used in the manufacture of meth along with drug paraphernalia.

The Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab Team was called to the scene to process the evidence.

74-year-old Elmyra Schacht and 47-year-old Valerie Haddix of Knox were taken into custody at the scene. They’re facing preliminary charges of Manufacturing Meth, Illegal Drug Lab, Possession of Meth, and Maintaining a Common Nuisance.
