Seven Jailed Following Joint Highway Patrol Effort

Seven people were taken to jail, following a joint effort to improve the safety of area highways. For a four-hour period Monday, officers from the Marshall and Starke County Sheriff’s Departments, Plymouth Police Department, and Indiana State Police teamed up to patrol the U.S. 30 and U.S. 31 areas, according to the Plymouth Police Department.

Police were on the lookout for speeding drivers, as well as other traffic violations. Officers say the effort led to numerous traffic stops, and seven people went to jail for either drug possession or warrants. Additionally, one driver was never licensed.

Monday’s joint patrol effort involved a total of four K9 teams from the various agencies. A press release from the Plymouth Police Department said the effort was “very successful.”
