Knox Council to Meet Tonight

City_of_Knox_LogoThe Knox City Council has a light agenda for their meeting this evening. There are no specific action items listed on the advance copy. The council discussed amendments to the city’s zoning ordinance two weeks ago to allow tattoo parlors downtown, but did not take action. Concerns were raised during that meeting about preserving the downtown’s historic district, which was cited as a reason for the 500 foot rule that was passed in 2009.

The current ordinance states “The location shall be at least 500 feet from any property used for school purposes, licensed day care center, church, public park, or a place licensed for the sale of alcoholic beverages.”

Council members want more information about historic district regulations before taking any action.

The Knox City Council will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at city hall.
