Man Wanted on Stalking Charges Apprehended in Michigan City

LaPorte County authorities say a man wanted for nearly one year has been apprehended.

34-year-old Thomas Harrington was wanted through the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department on a felony charge of Stalking, and misdemeanor charges Resisting Law Enforcement and Failure to Appear in Court.

Harrington’s arrest came on Tuesday after surveillance of an address in the 1300 West block of 8th Street in Michigan City. The Fugitive Apprehension Street Team was able to confirm Harrington’s presence at the home and attempted to take him into custody.

According to a press release, the suspect allegedly ran, but was subdued with a taser before being taken into custody.

Harrington’s sister, 31-year-old Alesia Bowers was also arrested and charged with Assisting a Fugitive. The apprehension team says that providing shelter or money to a wanted individual is against Indiana law.

The arrest this week came about as a result of tips received by the public, according to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department.
